Celtic are expected to receive a substantial fee, believed to be in the region of £7.5m, following the transfer of former defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton to Liverpool for £75m.
It is a world record fee for a defender, the seventh most expensive player in football history, and will see him move to Anfield after two and a half years at St Mary’s.
The 26-year-old moved to Celtic Park from Dutch side Groningen in 2013, where he won the Scottish Premiership and was named in the PFA Scotland team of the year in both of his seasons at the club.
He joined Southampton in 2015 and will join Liverpool when the transfer window opens on 1 January 2018.
Van Dijk made his international debut for the Netherlands in 2015.
