Royal Mail ‘makes a good start’ as sales rise

Royal Mail chief executive Moya Greene said it had made a good start to the year with sales up by 2% to £4.8 billion in the six months to 24 September.

Pre-tax profits came in flat at £250m, against £252m in the same period last year.

Chief executive Moya Greene added: “Our performance for the full year, as always, will be dependent on the important Christmas period. We are opening six temporary parcel sort centres and recruiting over 20,000 staff.”
