Johnston Press says meeting request ‘invalid’

Scotsman titleJohnston Press, owner of The Scotsman and 200 other regional and local titles, has issued a statement saying the request for a general meeting from an activist shareholder is invalid.

The board said it has been advised that the requisition notice received on 6 November from Custos Group, the investment vehicle of Norwegian investor Christen Ager-Hanssen, is invalid and it has informed Custos accordingly.

If the board receives a valid requisition request it said will put the proposed
resolution(s) to shareholders.

Mr Ager-Hanssen is calling a meeting in order to remove the chairman Camilla Rhodes and director Michael Butterworth and replace them with former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond and businessman Steve Auckland.
