Hearts may be forced to delay their return to Tynecastle after high winds blew the target for opening the new main stand off course.

Roofers were unable to complete scheduled work on the 7,000 seater stand this week because of the gales which has potentially pushed the opening of the new stand back by a couple of weeks.

The plan remains for a return to the stadium when Kilmarnock visit on 5 November but chairman Ann Budge admitted the recent winds could set back the timetable.

A board meeting today will decide whether to delay the reopening until the Partick Thistle match on 18 November.

A delay will mean the Kilmarnock match will be played at Murrayfield.

The completion date on the project has already been delayed following an error in ordering the seats which forced the club to stage three home games at the rugby stadium, including tomorrow’s clash with St Johnstone and next weekend’s match with Rangers.
