Acquisition boosts growth plan
O’Hara’s Talon swoops on Glenrothes firm
Vozero, a boutique software consultancy in Glenrothes, joins the Glasgow IT company’s portfolio for an undisclosed sum.
Talon is part of Kick ICT Group. Vozero managing director Bill Kelly and his team of six consultants will join Talon.
The acquisition will add a further £500,000 of fee income, and strengthens Talon’s position as a supplier of Microsoft business applications, cloud infrastructure and consultancy.
It follows the addition of Roxxap, a Bonnyrigg-based consultancy, in November 2016, which also added £500,000 in turnover.
This growth strategy has seen Talon’s turnover grow by 300% over the last two years and is on target to exceed £2.4m by the end of September. Staff numbers have risen to nearly 40, and the business will recruit further by the end of the year.
Mr O’Hara, said: “There is a major opportunity to build the largest IT consultancy business in Scotland specialising in Microsoft, and focusing on the SME sector.
“The business has grown quickly in the last two years, winning a large number of new and interesting clients across many sectors.
“With the addition of Vozero to the Group we are now a £3m turnover run rate technology business with around 70% of recurring income.
“This drives profitability and gives us the platform from which to continue our growth strategy and plan for the long term.
“Our plan is to build an IT business of scale, with geographical expansion into England already on our radar. We are always interested in acquisitions or mergers with entrepreneurial firms that have a particular specialism, or in talented individuals that want to join an ambitious Scottish IT business.”
Kick ICT Group is jointly owned by Mr O’Hara, Alan Turnbull and David Chazan, and is based in Finnieston Business Park, Glasgow.
