Hines invests in The Centre
£1.8m upgrade of mall under way
The Centre: upgrade will improve the customer experience
Hines, the international real estate firm, is spending £1.8m on a refurbishment of the oldest part of Livingston’s The Centre shopping Mall.
The project will include new entrance doors, new ceilings, LED energy efficient lighting, new décor and seating areas, and improved WiFi.
Work is due to complete in December and will take place outside trading hours to allow retailers to trade as normal and ensure minimum disruption for customers.
The Centre opened in 1976 and is one of Scotland’s largest covered shopping centres, comprising 1m sq. ft. and home to more than 160 retailers.
Sharon Bloodworth, Ddrector of Shopping Centre Asset Management for Hines UK, said the revamp of Phase 1, will bring it into line with the newer parts of the centre.
“We are confident our changes will enhance the overall shopping experience for our customers and create a positive boost to the trading environment for our retailers,” she said.
The Centre, which will also see a number of store openings, was acquired by Hines in December 2014, in conjunction with clients of HSBC Private Bank advised by HSBC Alternative Investments.
