David LonsdaleWork Place Chaplaincy Scotland has announced David Lonsdale, director of the Scottish Retail Consortium, as successor to chairman Andrew Milligan.

WPCS provides pastoral and welfare support across Scotland to employees in around 2,000 workplaces spanning all industry sectors, from shopping centres, industrial and financial services firms to council offices and fire stations.

Mr Lonsdale, until now deputy chairman, took over the role at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting at SCDI’s offices in Glasgow.

Mr Milligan, head of global strategy at Standard Life Investments, part of the Aberdeen Standard Life group, has served as chairman for the past 18 months.  He will remain a board trustee.

Working with the board of trustees and WPCS’s chief executive Rev Iain McFadzean, the new chairman will oversee the implementation of the organisation’s strategy.

Mr McFadzean said:  “The appointment of David, a long-standing trustee, as chairman will offer continuity and help oversee the implementation of the organisation’s plans.

“I would like to pay enormous tribute to Andrew for his contribution as chairman over the past eighteen months and office-bearer before that, and for his continued support for WPCS.”
