Billings touch £20 million

Morton Fraser sees slight income rise

Chris HarteLaw firm Morton Fraser has seen a marginal rise in income in line with inflation, up by 2.5% in the year to April compared to the previous year.

Billings reached almost £20m and this year staff will receive a performance-related bonus of 11% of their annual salary.

Chris Harte (pictured), chief executive, said: “We are building sustainable, long-term success here.

“We have seen a marked increase in the number of corporate transactions we have been involved in, particularly in the technology and life sciences sectors.

“We have also acted for several overseas investors looking to take advantage of the drop in value of sterling.”

The firm said it continues to secure referrals from the City of London and added to its banking and asset finance team with the appointment of Ross Caldwell from international law firm Taylor Wessing this year.

It also completed a seven-figure investment in IT infrastructure, upgrading its practice and case management software.
