Leonard takes helm at Inver House

Martin LeonardInver House Distillers, the Scotch Whisky subsidiary of global drinks business International Beverage Holdings, has appointed Martin Leonard (pictured) as managing director.

His promotion from operations director follows the announcement that Graham Stevenson is leaving to join the consortium acquiring the Glenallachie distiller in September .

Mr Leonard, 55, joined Inver House Distillers in 2000 as group quality manager and then operations manager for the main warehousing and blending site.

He has held his current post since 2007 with responsibility for the five Inver House Distilleries in Scotland – Pulteney, Balblair, Balmenach, Speyburn and Knockdhu – plus all maturation, blending and bottling, logistics, health and safety and quality assurance across the business.

Prior to this he spent ten years with United Distillers (now Diageo) initially as a research scientist and laterally in operations and procurement.

He is also a director and former chairman of the Scotch Whisky Research Institute; a member of the operations committee of the Scotch Whisky Association and chairman of its Customs & Excise Committee; and a Keeper of the Quaich.
