ESpark founder joins team of advisers
Duffy launches Moonshot for scale-up companies
Three renowned figures from the start-up sector have launched an accelerator scheme to help companies wanting to scale-up their businesses.
Jim Duffy, co-founder of Entrepreneurial Spark, has teamed up with Bill Morrow developer of online investment platform Angels Den, and Al Walker of Colombian-based workspace sharing company Siembra Coworking.
They are behind the Moonshot Academy which aims to provide a long-term partnership with growing companies. They say the academy will remain with each partner company throughout its development, if necessary until the owners exit the business.
The Academy venture will operate virtually and aims to handle 20 companies at one time.
It will take companies through three phases known as ‘launchpad’, ‘orbit’ and ‘moonshot’. At each stage the advisers will attempt to raise increasing levels of investment.
Mr Duffy said the accelerator “was founded to tackle the billion-dollar issue of companies failing to scale and optimise on return”.
He added: “Many business-builders have the potential to become millionaires and create something sustainable, but because they don’t know what they don’t know, the chances for many are slim to zero.”
Moonshot Academy will take an option rather than equity.
