Europa League third qualifying round

Aberdeen will take a narrow lead into their second leg tie in Cyprus after Graeme Shinnie’s second half strike earned this victory at Pittodrie.

The home side took an early lead through Ryan Christie who scored with a header after just four minutes.

An equaliser from Ribeiro Santana gave the Cypriots a valuable away goal but they were undone by a lack of discipline and Esteban Sachetti was dismissed before Shinnie’s winner.

Apollon head coach Sofronis Avgousti had already been sent to the stand shortly after the his team’s goal.

Derek McInnes will be hoping to build on his side’s good away form to see the job through in Larnaca next Thursday night.

Aberdeen:Christie (4), Shinnie (78)

Apollon: Santana (59)
