Castle Mill works conversion

Work starts on Printmakers new home

Impression of new centre

Edinburgh Printmakers has begun work on its new home at Castle Mill Works in Fountainbridge.

The home of the former North British Rubber Factory will be transformed into a £12.3 million Centre of Excellence for Printmaking and Creative Industries Hub.

The facility will house galleries, a learning studio, a state-of-the-art printmaking workshop, creative studios, and a cafe.

Architecture practice Page/Park has been appointed to bring the 160-year-old Grade C listed Castle Mill Works into public use for the first time.

Complementing the architectural design and retaining links to the history of the building, a series of permanent artwork commissions will be sited throughout the building.
