Chaos as airport hit
Flights cancelled after power failure
Flights were cancelled causing chaos for passengers when a power failure hit Edinburgh airport.
Electricity supplies were disrupted just before 9am on Wednesday and passengers were left stranded at the terminal. Long queues formed outside the building.
The power cut affected the terminal and the main hall was plunged into darkness with only emergency lighting available for almost an hour.
It was not possible to provide the usual ground services such as check-in or security during the outage. Passengers were unable to check-in for about 90 minutes.
The airport said that back-up power systems also failed inside the terminal, but not on the airfields or air traffic control.
It is not known what caused the power failure.
