Former Standard Life chief takes chair
Crombie joins Amiqus in first tech move
Former Standard Life chief executive, Sir Sandy Crombie, has been appointed chairman of Amiqus, his first active appointment in the Scottish tech startup scene.
Founded in Edinburgh by serial entrepreneur, Callum Murray in 2015, Amiqus Resolution aims to make civil justice accessible.
The company launched its first product, Amiqus ID, which provides encrypted online compliance checks making it easier for clients to access a lawyer or accountant, in 2016 and its revenue-generating success has allowed Amiqus to double its headcount to 12.
Headquartered in Leith, the company’s sales and marketing function is based in Edinburgh with engineering support in Cambridge and London.
Amiqus CEO and founder, Callum Murray, said: “We’re honoured to welcome Sir Sandy to our board. Sir Sandy’s experience, networks and thorough understanding of the business and professional services landscape will be invaluable for the company as we enter our next phase of growth. Myself and the team are delighted to have his know-how, drive and guidance for the journey ahead.”
Sir Sandy said: “I’ve known Callum for a number of years and have been impressed by Amiqus’ rapid move from an early stage concept to a revenue-generating business. I’m pleased to be on board to help build value for one of the most promising tech startups in Scotland.”
Amiqus recently won the Pitch of the Day and Audience’s Choice awards at EIE17. It has previously won all three categories of the Scottish EDGE competition and received a prestigious Enterprise Fellowship from The Royal Society of Edinburgh.
