New faces at Social Investment Scotland
Corporate banker Derek Gardiner joins as investment manager for the west of Scotland, and chartered accountant Jill Barrow as financial controller.
Mr Gardiner has 26 years of commercial and corporate banking experience with Bank of Scotland and latterly with Lloyds TSB, as a relationship manager. Before entering the corporate world, he played professional football for Dundee United and East Stirlingshire.
As investment manager for SIS, Derek will focus on supporting social enterprises and charities across Glasgow, Argyll and the West of Scotland.
Ms Barrow joins SIS from Baker Tilly, now RSM in Edinburgh, where she developed an expertise in internal and external audit for the third sector across Scotland, dealing with big national charities and smaller charitable organisations, groups and academic associations.
In her new role she will oversee the finance function SIS, managing day to day finance and governance – running the Audit & Risk and Capital & Finance Committees.
SIS has more than doubled its headcount in the past six years as part of the organisation’s long-term strategy to better serve communities across Scotland.
Alastair Davis, chief executive, Social Investment Scotland said: “Derek and Jill join SIS at a very busy, but hugely exciting time, for the organisation.
“We’re supporting more social enterprises and charities than ever before and we’re keen to build on this momentum.”
