Askeland takes leave of Aberdeen P&J

Erikka AskelandErikka Askeland, business editor at the Press & Journal, Aberdeen has decided to take up a new role outside the newspaper business.

The former business correspondent at The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday is making the switch to a new communications project being launched next month by former Daily Record & Sunday Mail chief Mark Hollinshead.

Hollicom is a PR and strategic comms agency and Ms Askeland is joining as strategic communications director. The business is based in St Vincent St, Glasgow.

Mr Hollinshead was recently chief operating officer at Trinity Mirror and Canada-born Ms Askeland worked for the group’s Insider Publications.

She moved from Edinburgh to Aberdeen in October 2013, initially as deputy business editor, with husband John Cooke who has recently been elected to the city council.

She twice won the Scottish business journalist of the year prize at the Scottish Press Awards.
