Firm to expand on Isle of Wight

Ascensos gets ‘unbeatable’ deal for new centre

John DevlinContact centre company Ascensos is opening a customer service centre on the Isle of Wight after receiving an “unbeatable package” of financial, training and recruitment support.

Ascensos, which is creating 600 jobs on the island, said it chose the Isle of Wight over other locations after receiving a £2.1 million funding deal and other assistance from the local council, the Department for Work and Pensions and Isle of Wight College.

It has taken a 10 year lease on the property and will invest more than £1m of its own.

Ascensos, set up in 2013, operates one contact centre in Motherwell and two in Clydebank, along with operations in Boxtel, in the Netherlands, and Bucharest in Romania, employing a total of 1,200 staff.

The Isle of Wight facility will be its first UK operation outside Scotland and, once fully operational, will make Ascensos one of the island’s largest employers.

John Devlin (pictured), CEO of Ascensos, said: “This is a major strategic move for Ascensos, increasing our capacity by 30% and establishing our first UK facility outside Scotland.

“We’re excited to be coming to the Isle of Wight. The people, the financial assistance and the support in recruitment, training and development made for an unbeatable package.”
