Lidl’s £500,000 boost for Scottish suppliers
Supermarket chain Lidl is adding 50 locally-sourced products to the shelves of its 94 stores across Scotland for the launch of its first Scottish Food and Drink Week.
They will be available for a limited period only and are in addition to the 300 Scottish products already on sale.
The added products come from 10 new suppliers in deals worth a combined £500,000 to the suppliers.
New suppliers include McIntosh of Strathmore, Malcolm Allan and Stoats Porridge Oats.
Lidl’s Scottish Buying Team have signed up more than 20 Scottish suppliers increased the Scottish range by over 60% last year.
Paul McQuade, head of food buying for Lidl in Scotland, said: “These new deals signify our continued commitment to stocking quality Scottish produce at Lidl.”
