Dennis to build bulk of Stagecoach bus order

StagecoachTransport company Stagecoach has placed the bulk of a £70 million order for buses and coaches with Falkirk-based builder Alexander Dennis.

The order with ADL is for 244 complete buses as well as 59 bus bodies and 31 coach bodies.

Northern Ireland coach builder Wrightbus and the Scarborough-based Plaxton, which is also owned by ADL, will also have a share in the total order for 340 vehicles.

Stagecoach said this latest order takes its total investment in its fleet to more than £1 billion over the past 11 years, adding 7,000 buses.

Founders Sir Brian Souter and Ann Gloag jointly hold a 55.1% stake in Alexander Dennis.
