Celtic secure title with 5-0 defeat of Hearts
A hat-trick from Scott Sinclair helped seal what had long been inevitable and ensure Brendan Rodgers celebrated his first year in charge at Celtic by winning the second leg of a probable treble.
It is the sixth consecutive League title win for Celtic who are 25 points ahead of second-placed Aberdeen with eight games to go in the League programme.
There is now a strong likelihood that they mean secure the treble without losing a game and after picking up their 48th league title they will be short odds to win the league again next season.
Their ruthless demolition of Hearts indicated the gulf between the visitors and the rest of a league which will be lucky to keep pace with the Parkhead club likely to strengthen further in the summer.
Afterwards Rodgers spoke of the players’ “determination and ambition to be the best they can be”.
He said he was “honoured” by the victory and “privileged” to have the job.
Goals: Sinclair (24′, 27′, 84′ pen), Armstrong (55′), Roberts (61′)
