Ryden wins Sports Village contract

Aberdeen Sports VillageRyden has won the instruction to prepare a 10-year planned maintenance programme for Aberdeen Sports Village following a competitive bidding process.

The contract was secured by the firm’s city-based project & building consultancy team which was boosted by the appointment in January of partner Douglas Garden from Knight Frank.

Aberdeen Sports Village, which opened in 2009, is home to an array of sporting facilities and events.

It is a joint venture involving the University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen City Council and sportscotland. Following a £22 million investment, the Aquatics centre which boasts a 50m Olympic standard 10 lane pool and Olympic standard 25m diving pool, opened in 2014 extending the facility’s offering.

Mr Garden said: “This is an excellent win for our team to take forward the maintenance of this important resource which, as well as being used by the local community, has the potential to boost to the local economy by hosting sporting competitions.

“Our planned maintenance programme will ensure the facility remains in the condition required to attract international event organisers whilst keeping costs within budget for the public sector operators.”
