Big Blue PR, event manager of Scotland’s largest Touch league, based in Edinburgh, has announced a sponsorship deal with legal firm Vialex.

Viki Mendelssohn, managing director of Big Blue said: “I am absolutely delighted that Vialex has become title sponsor of our league. Touch Rugby is now one of the largest participation sports in Edinburgh during the summer with over 450 players taking part each Wednesday night.

“Touch Rugby offers sponsors opportunities to raise awareness of their brand in a unique social, fun and healthy environment. Our leagues cater for all standards from the complete beginner through to seasoned veterans; we have players who have been playing in our league for over 20 years.

“It is testament to the event and its popularity that they keep returning each year. Touch, also known as Touch Football or Touch Rugby around the world,  is an inclusive sport and it is one of the rare collective sports that girls, boys, women and men enjoy together and against each other, with our Mixed competitions making Touch very popular.”

Vialex League logoTouch, is derived from rugby league which used a form of Touch for training purposes.  After passing through a development period during the 1960’s, the game became popular during the 1970’s and by early the next decade was established in all states and territories in Australia as a sport in its own right. It is now enjoyed globally by millions and every four years enjoys its own World Cup which was hosted in Edinburgh in 2011.

Keith Dinsmore, Director of Vialex said: “We are thrilled to support a grassroots event which is at the heart of everything that is good about inclusivity, health and overall is a fun sport to play.”

Ms Mendelssohn added: “We are currently taking entries for this year’s leagues at . It is so simple to take part – this year you can enter a team or as an individual. We want to encourage as many people to come down to the leagues and play Touch.”
