Expansion for drinks firm
Gin distillery gets go-ahead in East Lothian
NB gin founders Viv and Steve Muir have secured permission to build a small distillery near their base in East Lothian.
Council approval will allow the distiller to expand its gin and vodka production to a 24-hour operation.
NB Distillery will also offer enthusiasts the opportunity to visit the distillery, which will be 18m x 13m and clad in natural larch.
It will be energy neutral, featuring solar panels and capturing rain water to be reused for the condensing process of stilling.
Viv Muir said construction of the building on part of a mushroom farm at Halfland Barns, to the south east of North Berwick, will begin shortly. She hopes to have the distillery open by Autumn this year.
“Since we launched NB just a few years ago, it’s been an incredible journey and we’ve enjoyed fantastic growth, especially over the last 12 months, with NB being enjoyed all around the world,” she said.
“We’re so proud that we can continue our global growth from our home town.”
