£1m investment in city

Perth move marks solid year for Campbell Dallas

Ian WilliamsAccountancy firm Campbell Dallas will next week open a larger office in Perth, with the expansion representing an investment of more than £1 million in the city.

The new office will comfortably accommodate the current complement of 40 staff and partners and there are plans to increase staffing to around 50 over the next two years.  Campbell Dallas is already the largest accountancy firm in the Perth area.

The new office opening coincide with the release of the firm’s accounts for the 12 months to end of May last year revealing a robust year.

Turnover rose to just under £12m, and staff numbers were up to more than 200.  The firm cited a programme of continued investment as key to growth.

Chairman Ian Williams (pictured) said: “2016 was a solid year for us and we are continuing to win increasing amounts of work across the business this year, with healthcare, rural and family business sectors performing particularly well.

“Major transactions during the year included; advice to Innis & Gunn on their acquisition of Inveralmond Distillery; fund-raising for fast-growing technology business, Traveltek, acquisition support to Morris & Spottiswood in the purchase of Lled Construction and several high profile administrations.

“We also acquired an established accountancy firm in Kilmarnock at the tail end of the year, providing us with a base from which to further develop our business in the Ayrshire market.

“Investing for the future has steered our strategy in the last two years, and we will continue with a high investment ratio.”

The firm has made a commitment to new IT infrastructure and has set aside £250,000 for the recruitment of trainees.

Mr Williams said the firm’s approach to trainees was recognised by its Investors in Young People Gold accreditation.

“The success of our overall strategy is probably best measured by growth in the business – more than 400 new clients have chosen Campbell Dallas during this last year.”

Campbell Dallas has implemented an active sustainability and corporate citizenship programme.  In 2016 the firm installed one of the largest roof top solar panel arrays in Scotland and launched the Campbell Dallas Foundation that helps staff undertake charitable giving, volunteering and fund raising.

The Foundation aims to create a supportive environment that encourages staff to do good for others.
