Stocks continue to rise
FTSE 100 above 7,200 despite lower US jobs
The FTSE 100 index posted another record close today, its fifth straight week of gains.
The index was up 14.74 points or 0.2% at 7,210.05 points, its first-ever close above 7,200.
US non-farm payrolls data showed fewer jobs than expected but growth in wages.
The number of jobs created fell from an upwardly revised 204,000 in November and came in at 156,000 against expectations of 175,000.
The jobless rate edged up to 4.7% from 4.6%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged closer to the 20,000 point level, currently up 73.99 points at 19,973.28.
