Michelin chef opens Stockbridge venture

Owner trained with Roux brothers

Michelin-trained chef Gordon Craig launched his new venture in Edinburgh with a party for friends and other guests.

Taisteal, gaelic for journey or to travel, is the new name over the door of the former Field Grill House in Stockbridge.

After four years Mr Craig bought out his two partners to relaunch the restaurant with a concept that he has been developing for several years.

Inspired by his own travels abroad and recipes from around the world, he hopes to present some of these flavours and techniques to customers.

He trained in some of the UK’s best restaurants, including the three Michelin-starred Waterside Inn, The Peat Inn and The Plumed Horse.

He honed his skills whilst working under the direction of Roux Brothers in London.

In the kitchen he is supported by Daniel ‘Sid’ James, who has worked with Gordon for three years since leaving college. Front of House is managed by Craig Brown.
