Djokovic ends Murray’s winning streak

Andy Murray’s winning streak came to end at the hands of his old nemesis when Novak Djokovic overcame the Scot to win the Qatar Open title.

Murray, who had won 28 consecutive ATP Tour matches, remains world number one despite the 6-3 5-7 6-4 defeat by the Serbian.

The newly-knighted Scot saved three match points but Djokovic finally broke his resistance to win in two hours 54 minutes.

They will next cross swords at the Australian Open which starts on 16 January.
