64-bed aparthotel planned

Di Maggio’s owners to open £8m hotel

Di Maggio'sRestaurateurs Mario Gizzi and Tony Conetta are planning a 64-bed aparthotel in central Glasgow.

Their Di Maggio Restaurant Group (DRG), Scotland’s largest independent restaurant chain, is behind the £8 million plan which comes on the back of record results.

The hotel, above its Anchor Line restaurant and Atlantic brasserie in St Vincent Place, is aimed primarily at the business market.

However, the pair are also targeting destination shoppers and visitors attending events in the city.

The group operates restaurants under several brands – Di Maggio’s, Café Andaluz, Amarone, Atlantic Brasserie, Barolo, Cadiz and The Anchorline.

It is opening a 200-cover restaurant and two bars within The Registers development in the former Royal Bank of Scotland building in St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.

The building was previously owned by the former owner of Hearts football club, Vladimir Romanov.
