US angels plan deals with St Andrews Uni
The St Andrews Angels is a not for profit group comprising seasoned entrepreneurs, business leaders, alumni and faculty within the New York area.
The want to help develop deals involving Scotland’s oldest university and its global network, as well as providing investment capital, strategic advice and mentoring to early-stage businesses.
Interim chairman and co-founder Andrew Romero, along with an experienced board of directors and staff, have worked over the past year to establish the network.
They are optimistic that it will become a significant contribution to the global entrepreneurial ecosystem.
St Andrews undergraduate and co-founder of the initiative, Matthew Leonard said: “The St Andrews Angels provides an exciting opportunity for local early stage ventures to both gain US expertise and market access as well as diversify their investor base.
“Deals are expected to range from $100,000 to $2 million. However, they may be larger through syndication.”
The group will act as conduit for broader Scottish based ventures eyeing access to US based investors.
Relevant early stage projects in the technology and science sectors are encouraged to apply for funding through the group’s website.
For the launch event, the St Andrews Angels partnered with Tiger21. Inc. 500 CEO and New York Times best-selling author David Rose delivered a keynote speech.
