Vouchers prove popular
Stobo and Airport celebrate record numbers
Edinburgh and Borders enjoy festive boost
Stobo Castle Health Spa sold more than £1 million-worth of gift vouchers in the run-up to Christmas, a record for the Borders attraction.
Jenni Watts, marketing director, said its £100,000 advertising campaign, had paid off.
“It is a great achievement,” she said. Almost 10,000 Stobo vouchers were sold.
The facility, near Peebles, also ran special discounted rates over the festive period.
Edinburgh Airport is also reporting a record – for the numbers of passengers arriving for the Hogmanay celebrations.
Between Christmas Day and the last flight on 31 December Edinburgh Airport will welcome more than 86,000 arriving passengers.
This compares to 75,000 in the same period last year and the 70,966 who arrived in the final week of 2014.
Throughout the festive period a dip in passenger numbers happens at most airports but a year-on-year comparison shows Edinburgh Airport building traffic.
