Funding from Steel group

Staircase firm takes steps to expansion

stockwellStaircase manufacturer Stockwell is to expand its production capabilities and almost double its workforce after raising investment from UK Steel Enterprises.

The Cumbernauld-based company, which has been supplying Scotland’s housebuilders and homeowners for the past six years, has received a five-figure sum which will contribute towards hiring 11 permanent staff, including two apprentices.

Chris Stockwell, director, said architects were designing more elaborate staircases in response to demand from home owners.

“The funding from UKSE will help us become better equipped to take on these difficult jobs,” he said.

Scott Webb, UKSE regional executive, said: “With the right tools, Stockwell will be able to keep up with emerging trends, ensuring that they are able to stay relevant in the ever competitive property markets.

“They are an ambitious company and we are confident that with this investment they will achieve great success.”
