New venture registered
Mone launches company with billionaire boyfriend
MMI Global was incorporated last week, with Mr Barrowman’s Isle of Man based Knox Limited holding 51% of the shares and the Ultimo inventor owning the rest.
Their new venture is registered at Knox House in Mayfair in London, which is home to many of the companies in Mr Barrowman’s Knox Group.
The business is involved in tax planning services to corporate and personal clients, including help buying superyachts and property in Belgravia, according to the registration.
The pair were once near-neighbours in their native Glasgow and have been together since earlier this month. Lady Mone, 45, said in a tweet that ‘after 25 years I’ve finally met my match’.
Mr Barrowman, 51, made his fortune in private equity and property development, and lives in a luxury home on the Isle of Man.
He has surrounded himself with trappings of wealth including two superyachts and five Ferraris.
Former prime minister David Cameron made Ms Mone a peer in October 2015 and appointed her an adviser to the Government on business start-ups in disadvantaged communities.
Since entering the House of Lords as Lady Mone of Mayfair she has made just one speech.
In October she split from Barbados-based golf professional Stefan Soroka.
