New style for restaurant
Contini to close flagship outlet for revamp
An Edinburgh restaurant is to close for 10 days next month to allow for a £200,000 refurbishment.
Victor and Carina Contini are revamping their eponymous outlet in George Street to create a new layout more suited to modern dining styles.
Carina (pictured) said: “We opened in 2001 and, while Italian food will always be popular, we recognise that the way people like to eat has changed.”
The 4,500 square metre former banking hall will be transformed, with a new colour palette and bold wallpaper depicting Italian frescos.
The bar area will be redesigned, bringing in banquette-style seating and a new lighting scheme, with new furniture and fittings throughout. Building work will be carried out by contractor Thomas Johnstone.
