Virgin and SPF partnership

Broadband pledge to homes and businesses

virgin-mediaHomes and commercial properties will be built with ultrafast broadband services included following a deal between Virgin Media and the Scottish Property Federation.

Virgin Media announced earlier this month that Scotland will benefit from the first large scale rollout of ultrafast fibre broadband connected directly to homes and businesses, known as FTTP.

Thw announcement comes on the back of concern about the quality of broadband in new build homes. A recent investigation by broadband advice site cable.co.uk revealed that thousands of homebuyers in new developments are finding that broadband provision is either slow or non-existent.

David Melhuish, director at Scottish Property Federation, said: “House buyers, as well as businesses, expect the best services and there is concern about the quality of broadband in new homes. Our new partnership will help SPF members create communities that are equipped for the 21st century.”

By the end of 2019, Virgin Media will cover 17 million homes and businesses.
