Walker to head Shepherd rating office

moira-walkerShepherd Chartered Surveyors has appointed Moira Walker as the head of its rating department throughout Scotland.

She will provide rating consultancy advice to private and public sector clients with responsibility for the daily rating management of their portfolios.

A graduate of Strathclyde University in Architectural Studies, and of the University of Paisley with a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Property Appraisal, Ms Walker has more than 20 years’ experience in rating consultancy.

She is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a RICS Registered Valuer. Ms Walker is also a member of the Rating Surveyors Association and an Honours member of the Institute of Revenue, Rating and Valuation.

Ms Walker has provided rating consultancy advice to a number of blue chip firms including British Airways, HSBC, Monsoon, Hewlett Packard and Ernst and Young.

Steve Barnett, managing partner at Shepherd, said: “Moira has a hard-earned reputation within the surveying profession as an expert in valuation for rating and, as such, we are very pleased to welcome her to the firm.”

Shepherd Building Consultancy has appointed Gemma Smith as associate building surveyor in its Edinburgh office with a remit to manage and develop its building surveying and project management services throughout Edinburgh.

Ms Smith attended Napier University, graduating in 2009 with a first class Honours in Building Surveying. She has worked in building surveying consultancy for 11 years in Edinburgh and Fife and sits on the committee for Women in Property. She is current chairman of the Central Scotland Branch.
