Mackintosh expanding in New York and Paris

mackintoshGlobal fashion brand Mackintosh, is opening another outlet in New York and is considering a showroom in Paris as part of an international expansion plan.

The Cumbernauld-based business, which has been producing its handmade rubberised coats since the early 20th century, already has retail units in Manhattan, London, Tokyo and Milan.

The business has received £1.5 million from Clydesdale Bank to assist with the expansion of both its manufacturing facilities in Nelson, Lancashire and the move to a new factory in Cumbernauld.

A shop on Madison Avenue, New York opens in February.

Bill Burnett, finance manager at Mackintosh said: “It is a very exciting time for the business as we aim to expand our global reach.”

Clydesdale relationship manager Robert Stark, said: “Mackintosh is a well-established and highly-regarded brand, recognised worldwide. It’s great to see them grow into new markets.”
