Ambergreen sold in undisclosed deal
Canadian group buys Scots digital agency
Ambergreen, the Edinburgh-based digital marketing agency, has been acquired in a multi-million pound deal by Canadian outfit DAC Group.
DAC is one of the largest independent digital media agencies in North America.
Ambergreen chief executive Tino Nombro, who co-founded the company 15 years ago with Grant Whiteside, said: “DAC’s technology is uniquely positioned to take advantage of local ecosystems for national brands.”
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, aims to accelerate growth and increase the company’s international footprint.
In a statement, the company said: “Joining DAC Group allows Ambergreen to strengthen its core services, while retaining its status as an independently operating unit within the group.
“Being part of the DAC network brings access to sophisticated technology that optimises local, social, and multi-device campaigns, helping brands reach consumers and build connections by telling the right story to the right people at the right time.
“Ambergreen is the second UK agency to join the rapidly-expanding digital performance marketing agency in the past 18 months. DAC Group already has six North American offices and is expected to announce further expansion in Europe by the end of 2016.
“Cultural alignment, entrepreneurial spirit, and a mutual desire to create outstanding results for clients were key attributes in the decision to join forces.
“The move will also benefit Ambergreen’s experienced team by providing the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise even further within an international business; ensuring Ambergreen’s people continue to stay ahead of the curve.”
The George Street business’s clients include Hotel Chocolat, PwC, The Elder Scrolls and Turquoise Holidays.
The deal is one of the more significant in the digital marketing sector since Edinburgh’s Bigmouthmedia was acquired by Dutch group Lost Boys International in 2009.
