Social network shares fall
Twitter suitor withdraws interest in bid
Shares in Twitter slumped after one of its potential suitors ruled out a bid for the social media company.
Cloud software company Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff said his firm was no longer interested in pursuing a tie-up with the loss-making company.
Google, Apple and Walt Disney have also cooled on a bid.
Twitter’s shares slipped 7% to $16.60 on Mr Benioff’s comments. They leapt by 20% when talk of a bid surfaced earlier this month, touching $25.
Twitter has stated that it does not expect to make a profit for some time.
