Payments firm reaps benefit of deal

New owner backs intelligentpos Germany plan

Intelligent POSScottish payment systems business, intelligentpos is reaping immediate benefits from its new owner by unveiling expansion into Europe this week.

With the backing of iZettle, intelligentpos has established a sales and marketing base in Germany to reach an estimated four million small and medium-sized businesses.

Intelligentpos developed the UK’s first iPad and cloud-based point of sale application. The business was founded in 2013 by business partners Robin Knox and Paul Walton and was acquired by Swedish firm iZettle last month.

Together the two companies now provide an integrated payment and point of sale solution.

Graeme Horsfall, general manager of intelligentpos, said: “The launch into Germany has been made possible by joining forces with iZettle and it is tremendously exciting to see our software being rolled out across Europe within a month of the partnership being agreed.

“It has meant a lot of hard work, but there is a great team mentality here and the sense of a job well done.

“We have always been ambitious – for our software and for our business – and the drive to expand will see us grow our workforce significantly over the coming year.

“As an Edinburgh-based business, I also feel that we are cutting a path for other Scottish tech firms with the talent and ambition to grow worldwide.”

Jacob de Geer, chief executive at iZettle said: “We’ve worked hard with the team at intelligentpos to scale quickly and the launch of intelligentpos in Germany today takes iZettle further in its mission to provide small businesses globally with the business services they need to work less, live better and earn more.”
