Silver birch sap flavours new Deeside gin
Distilled in a traditional copper still, using locally sourced botanicals where possible, Esker Gin is the result of two years’ distillation sampling by local couple Steven and Lynne Duthie.
The gin incorporates sap from the silver birch tree, tapped from the Kincardine Estate in Royal Deeside and the first batch was given a tasting at Taste of Grampian in June.
Development work has since been undertaken on its bespoke bottle and branding.
Mr Duthie, director of Esker Spirits, said: “We have developed our recipe using local botanicals wherever we can, so to work with Deeside Drinks Emporium to showcase our gin in Tayside and Deeside simultaneously is a great opportunity that reflects our commitment to the region.
“The gin market is buzzing with different flavours and techniques, and we are really excited to be part of this modern day gin experience.”
The gin will be unveiled at Taste Angus Festival 2016 at Glamis Castle on 20 and 21 August, and Royal Deeside Speed Festival at Kincardine Castle on 21 August.
