Murray joins JLL Edinburgh team

James MurrayProperty consultancy JLL has appointed James Murray, a retail specialist previously based in its central London team, as it looks to strengthen its Scottish retail offering.

Mr Murray joins JLL in Edinburgh from its office in London where he has worked for the past three years as a retail specialist, advising tenants and landlords on their retail strategies.

Returning to his home city of Edinburgh, he also brings with him overseas retail experience having worked in Hong Kong for two years with Colliers International.

Reporting into lead director for Scotland Alasdair Humphery, Mr Murray will work across the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, linking in with JLL’s other UK retail teams. Key responsibilities will include retail acquisition and disposals in Scotland as well as working alongside the investment and agency teams.

JLL now employs more than 120 staff across Scotland to advise developers, investors and occupiers in all major property markets.

Mr  Humphery said: “James is a fantastic addition to our team. His experience working internationally and in London’s retail market will be a great asset to our business, adding further depth to our client offering, and providing a platform to grow our presence in Scotland’s retail sector.

“As well as working on mixed use and pure retail acquisition, James will provide an added dimension to our investment, lease advisory, property asset management and valuation teams. It’s an exciting opportunity both for James and JLL, and we’re looking forward to welcoming him on board.”

Mr Murray said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to Scotland to start working with the teams in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Maintaining close working links with colleagues across the UK will be important, and I’m ready to explore the opportunities and challenges which lie ahead in Scotland’s diverse retail market.”
