Mone buys out ex-husband’s share of home

Michelle Mone LordsFormer lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone has bought her ex-husband’s share of their Lanarkshire home to become sole owner of the luxury property.

The couple, who were married for 19 years, tried to sell the five-bed property in Thorntonhall in 2012 for £1.6m but it failed to find a buyer.

Baroness Mone, who was elevated to the House of Lords last year by former Prime Minister David Cameron, bought the house with her former husband for £1,525,000 in 2008.

She has been trying to buy out her ex-husband for two years and he has finally agreed to sell. It’s thought she paid £125,000 for his share.

Alongside a photograph showing the house’s kitchen, she tweeted: “Some things in life are worth waiting for! 3 new homes in 4 weeks… incredible but never again. Time to celebrate”.

She and her husband started the Ultimo lingerie business in 1996 before they split in 2011 and last year she produced a report for Mr Cameron’s Government on the obstacles facing people in poorer areas who want to start a business. It is not known what action the government intends to take in response to the report.

Baroness Mone, who is now selling jewellery and tanning products, is currently on a world speaking tour.
