Firm moves to next phase of transition

New chairman and MD installed at Page \ Park

Bateman and PickeringGlasgow-based architecture practice Page \ Park has appointed Karen Pickering as chairman and Andrew Bateman as managing director, a newly created role.

Page \ Park transferred from a partnership to an employee ownership model three years ago and these appointments are the next part of its transition.

Ms Pickering succeeds Brian Park who held the position throughout the initial transition in 2013.

He said:  “The time has come for the next chapter in the Page \ Park journey.  Karen Pickering has been with the company for 25 years and is well respected in the profession for her enthusiasm and support for exciting architecture across a wide range of fields.”

Andrew Bateman has been with Page \ Park for 16 years and Mr Park added: “For the past two years Andrew has taken on the role of finance director and the extension of that into managing director will ensure a steady hand overseeing the operational and financial management of the practice as we seek to evolve and respond to new challenges.”

Sarah Deas, director of Co-operative Development Scotland (CDS), which supports Scottish businesses with their transition to employee owned models, said:  “Page \ Park chose to sell to an employee ownership trust with the vendors being paid the value of their business from current and future earnings.

“That way business owners receive a fair price for the company and employees don’t have to dig deep into their own pockets.”
