Media boss takes redundancy

Clydesdale comms chief Gardner checks out

Barry GardnerClydesdale Bank’s communications chief Barry Gardner has left the company after taking a redundancy package.

Gardner has been with the Glasgow-based bank for a decade, overseeing media relations for both Clydesdale and its sister Yorkshire Bank in Leeds.

He led the communications strategy through the demerger from National Australia Bank and CYBG’s flotation on the stock market this year.

Gardner, a former journalist, is also a trustee of the Scottish Association for Mental Health.

After two years with the Sunday Post and Dundee Courier he joined Catchline PR and subsequently moved into corporate communications with General Accident, Stagecoach and Bank of Scotland before joining Clydesdale in 2006.
