Cannonball House opening

Continis team up with distiller for bar launch

Victor and Carina ContiniTwo family businesses have joined forces to create a new whisky bar in the shadow of Edinburgh castle.

Ian Macleod Distillers has collaborated with Victor and Carina Contini (pictured), the restaurateurs, to open Cannonball Bar.

A party to celebrate the opening attracted a number of well-kent faces from the leisure sector.

The whisky bar offers 120 malt whiskies in the basement of Cannonball House which is one of Edinburgh’s oldest recorded buildings. The name comes from the cannonball shot lodged in the wall facing the castle.

Architect Kerr Blyth of KBAD and interior designers Ampersand have converted the three-storey building into the latest dining and drinking establishment. Thomas Johnson of Glasgow was the principal contractor.

Neil Boyd, commercial director for malts for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Victor and Carina to launch Cannonball Bar and The Glengoyne Room. The location of Cannonball House is so unique spot and couldn’t offer a more authentic Edinburgh experience.”

Carina Contini said: “At Contini we are all about family and offering our customers a fantastic eating and drinking experience. We’re so happy to be collaborating with Glengoyne, who share our ethos and passion.”
