Bissett joins board of metering company
Mr Bissett, 58, chairs Macfarlane, the packaging company, and also sits on the boards of Cruden Group, Scottish Futures Trust and Anderson Strathern.
He was previously a partner with Arthur Andersen and finance director of a number of international groups.
He has served on the boards of a number of other companies, including Jim McColl’s Interbulk, and the online tyre firm Black Circles.
His other appointments include chairman at ‘Children 1st’, Scotland’s national children’s welfare charity, and he is a Member of Court at the University of Glasgow.
Mr Bissett will chair listed Smart Metering’s audit committee. Miriam Greenwood, who currently chairs the committee, will be appointed senior independent non-executive director and chairman of the company’s remuneration committee, in each case with immediate effect.
Willie MacDiarmid, chairman of SMS, said Mr Bissett’s financial expertise “will be of great value to SMS as it implements its strategy in both the I&C and domestic smart metering markets.”
