Scottish Rugby wants to develop land

200-bed hotel plan for Murrayfield Stadium

BT rugbyScottish Rugby wants to build a hotel on land near the entrance to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

Potential investors and operators are now being sourced by JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group which said the a hotel of between 100 and 200 rooms in the three or four star category is the most likely option.

Keith McBain, director at JLL, said this was a unique opportunity and he expects a high level of interest.

The site is be adjacent to the main entrance and diagonally opposite the tram stop which mean having to move the war memorial that pays tribute to players who died during the First World War.

Mark Dodson, Scottish Rugby’s chief executive, said: “This is part of our continuing aim to improve the facilities and enhance the customer experience at BT Murrayfield. It will help us to develop and diversify our revenue streams for the benefit of Scottish Rugby as a whole.”
