Trinity launches micro website for Glasgow

Glasgow LiveMedia Scotland, part of Trinity Mirror, has launched a micro-website that will go head-to-head with the Glasgow Evening Times for local news.

Glasgow Live will have a team of ten journalists and follows the launch of similar sites in Belfast and Dublin.  It will produce local news and features, weather and traffic reports.

Trinity Mirror claims Belfast Live has already drawn a readership of more a million unique users in five months.

Gregor Kyle, an online sports reporter at the Daily Record,  has been appointed editor and will be taking contributions from a number of writers based in the city, including Kevin McKenna, comedian Robert Florence and photographer Elaine Livingstone.

Allan Rennie, managing director of Media Scotland, added: “Trinity Mirror has a strong track record of launching standalone digital websites and we’re following the formula by producing strong and engaging local journalism for the people Glasgow.

“Based in the heart of the city we’re in the perfect place to serve and build a loyal digital audience. Gregor has put together a quality editorial team who will reflect the lives and loves of Glaswegians every day.”
