Times Scotland editor Snowdon leaves for The Sun

The Times websiteThe Times Scottish Editor Les Snowdon is leaving for a job at The Sun just over a year after his appointment.

He is to become assistant editor of the tabloid.

Snowdon is a former editor of Scotland on Sunday and The Sunday Times Scotland, and returned to Scotland after leaving for London in 2009 to become Sports Editor of The Daily Mail.

He was appointed to The Times to succeed Scottish journalist Angus Macleod who died, aged 63, in October 2014 after a short illness.

Snowdon, who began his career as a photographer, embarked on a recruitment campaign in Scotland, hiring a number of senior staff in an ambitious bid to raise the title’s profile in Scotland.
