Entrepreneur 'true to her word'
Mone donates Lords’ expenses to charity
Baroness Mone says she has handed charities more than £4,000 from the allowances she is able to claim from her seat in the House of Lords.
Lady Mone has attended the second chamber 13 times since joining the peerage last October and is entitled to a £300 daily expense.
After it emerged in a Scottish newspapers that she would claim £3,900 she told her Twitter followers that she would be “true to her word” and give it away.
It is not known which charities will benefit but the former lingerie entrepreneur used her maiden speech last month to speak up for women’s rights.
It is understood she will make an annual statement.
In an interview with BBC Radio Four’s Woman’s Hour last September she said: “I am in a position where I do not nee to take expenses.”
